“For the first time in history, this generation is expected to die 5 years younger than their parents.” ~ Designed to Move
What would you do with 5 more years? What would you give to help your kids live 5 years longer? Would you commit to keeping kids active and eating healthy so they could gain those lost years back?

My local YMCA is committed to helping communities achieve this goal. They have actively supported my health journey and encouraged me to pass on a healthy lifestyle to my daughter by giving us access to exercise equipment and educational programs. When I asked the Stork Family YMCA if they would speak to the Director of Life Change Adventures about connecting with kids in our local community, they eagerly engaged the opportunity. What is Life Change Adventures doing? They are committed to teaching kids the combined benefits of exercise and education through their Running and Reading program, amoung many other initiatives.
Why should my daughter have 5 years taken away from her? If anyone else threatened to steal those years away I would fight for her right to live at all costs, so how could I be complacent about doing my part in giving her those years back? At this stage of her life, I’m her teacher, and I am committed to helping my daughter realize those 5 years by making healthy choices and staying active. Admittedly, I’ve lost sight of the goal. It’s time to refocus. My daughter’s quality, and length of life, are intertwined with the choices I make when it comes to how I live mine.

Let’s put life in motion again. Will you join me in making a commitment to keep our kids active and healthy, not only by telling them what to do, but by leading a healthy life style yourself?
